Southwest Communities That Care

The Southwest Denver Communities that Care Program is a joint initiative of local residents, organizations, and government entities with the goal of promoting the healthy growth and wellbeing of youth in Southwest Denver. The program offers evidence-based prevention programs, activities, and initiatives with an emphasis on preventing and reducing youth problem behaviors like substance misuse, violence, and delinquency.

The program aims to increase the protective factors that enable youth to thrive by involving youth, families, and community members in decision-making, planning, and execution of preventative activities. Building a community that is safe, healthy, and caring for everyone is a priority for the Southwest Denver Communities that Care Program.

Southwest Vida

The Southwest Vida Youth Leadership Team is made up of a group of committed young people who are driven to have a good influence on their neighborhood. As part of their efforts, the team creates and distributes quarterly newsletters that highlight important issues and events happening in Southwest Denver. These newsletters are available in both English and Spanish, ensuring that everyone in the community has access to the information and resources they need.

The team works hard to ensure that the content is relevant, informative, and engaging. By creating and distributing these newsletters, the Youth Leadership Team is not only building their own leadership skills but also serving as role models for other young people in the community. They are demonstrating that young people have the power to make a difference and can be valuable contributors to their community.
